The Buffoons At The Academy...
The buffoons at the academy have once again snubbed Leonardo DiCaprio. This is just a shame. His Revolutionary Road performance was so much larger and more profound than any of the nominees other than Sean Penn. Shame on the academy.

FLORIDA

Official Selection has been invited to participate in the 2009 FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL. It's a great festival and we're proud that this difficult, weird, wry little film is starting to find an audience. Big thanks to the festival staff.
The festival takes place March 27 - April 5, 2009. For more information check floridafilmfestival.com

"You Gays" : My Father
OK, I read most/all of your blog. I think you're right on most issues, and the ones we disagree about are not important. However, when reading the entries, I was bothered by a semi-consistent theme that seemed to emerge throughout many of the entries, and many of the arguments I have been seeing on Maddow's show. I wonder why gays are so defensive about "I didn't choose to be this way." Seems that there's lots of this in the gay defense of their position/status/role, and their objection to Rick W. This argument seems apologetic for a choice that does not need to be ratoinalized or diminished or apologized for. Who gives a shit if a person is "born" gay or simply feels that this is the way he or she wants (not has) to be? No one has the right to rip a person for such a choice, especially as it has nothing to do with the person's innate value or goodness. You can be a good gay or a rotton one, just as you can be a good heterosexual or a rotton one. Aplogizing for the choice of partner simply reinforces bigotry's assumption of moral superiority when, in fact, they are far from being on the right side of Jesus. Remember, he was the guy who consorted with whores, who apparently never worked a steady job (sorry about that), who hung out with 12 men, who counseled love above all else, etc. If I had a better memory of my 12 repressed years in Cath school, I could dredge up even more evidnece of his ambivalent sexuality -- but you see what I am saying. If I love my neighbor as myself, which Jesus said was the greatest commandment, then how in hell could I deny rights to people that I insist upon for myself?
Love,
D
Sorry I couldn't put this on your blog.
Good point dad.
